1935

The Birth of a Legend

Establishment of Ishimoto Shoten, a menswear retail store and the forerunner for Descente.

1954

Pioneering Skiwear Development

Japan’s first professional skier, Kazuyoshi Nishimura helps the company become firmly established in the skiwear business.

1961

Carving a New Identity

Descente creates its signature arrow logo representing the basic skiing techniques of schussing, traversing, and sideslipping.

1974

Introduction of the Famous “Demopants”

Descente launches its successful “Demopants”. The pants were popular for keeping snow out of ski boot tops and for flattering physiques.

1979

Unveiling of the Magic Suit

Descente announces a ski suit that reduces resistance and maximizes freedom of movement through three-dimensional design and strategic adjustment of fasteners.

1988

The First Heat Retaining Solar Jacket

In collaboration with Unitika Ltd, Descente creates a jacket that absorbs solar rays and converts them into heat.

2002

The Power of Design

Descente joins forces with award-winning costume designer Eiko Ishioka to add artistic excitement to its cutting-edge sports-science products.

2008

Release of the Revolutionary Mizusawa Down Range

Instead of the traditional stitched, quilted down construction, Descente’s Mizusawa factory technicians come up with an entirely new thermal bonding process that prevents down from escaping through sewn seams and makes jackets waterproof.

2011

The Launch of AXCEL Support Bands

Descente introduces a range of compression bands that aid in the release of instantaneous performance power.

2012

Developing High-Performance Compression Wear

After a detailed study of long-distance running, Descente launches Genome athletic tights that help maintain body form and reduce the loss of leg kicking power.

2013

Gold Medal Performance

Descente’s Transform jacket is awarded a gold medal in the performance segment of the Lifestyle and Fashion Category at the ISPO sporting goods trade show.

2014

The Platinum Jacket Gets Minimal

Descente introduces a new concept of minimalism to its fabrics. This simple approach gives Descente apparel a clean look while retaining maximum performance.

Correct sizing begins with the chart below. Borderline between two sizes? Order the smaller size for a fit that’s tighter or the larger size for one that’s looser. For tops — If your chest and waist measurements correspond to two different sizes, use the size indicated by your chest measurement. For bottoms — If your hips and waist measurements correspond to two different sizes, use your hip measurement size.
